Pro­bi­otics have been in the news for quite some time now and they seemed like they might be the way for me to go on my jour­ney to a healther, hap­pier life. I had already started explor­ing diet and exer­cise, but there was some­thing miss­ing. I decided I wanted to explore the option of pro­bi­otic sup­ple­ments and I’ve decided to share my expe­ri­ences for any­one con­sid­er­ing tak­ing the same path.

Where I Started — Diges­tive Problems

The most impor­tant first step in con­sid­er­ing sup­ple­ments of any sort is solid research. I wanted to know what pro­bi­otics really were and what ben­e­fits they might offer me. I learned pro­bi­otics are micro organ­isms that actu­ally pro­vide a wide array of health ben­e­fits I hadn’t even con­sid­ered. As some­one who often suf­fers prob­lems with dairy, I was most inter­ested in the ben­e­fits for peo­ple with lac­tose intol­er­ance or prob­lems digest­ing dairy. Other health ben­e­fits may appeal to you depend­ing on your per­sonal needs.

Seek­ing a Sec­ond Opin­ion — Are Pro­bi­otics  Right for Me?

Because mak­ing a sig­nif­i­cant lifestyle change can greatly affect every area of your life, my deci­sion to start liv­ing health­ier was some­thing I had already been dis­cussing with my doc­tor. After doing my research into pro­bi­otic sup­ple­ments and find­ing out all the poten­tial ben­e­fits, I ran the idea by my doc­tor to see if there were any risks.

Pro­bi­otics sup­ple­ments are gen­er­ally very safe, but it’s a good idea to make sure.

The Results — A Bet­ter Pro­bi­otic Life!

Although the effects were not out­wardly appar­ent in gen­eral, my mood improved right away and I actu­ally felt bet­ter. I get sick less often and when I do hap­pen to catch a cold, the symp­toms are much more mild and the dura­tion of the cold is much shorter.

Over­all, I would rec­om­mend pro­bi­otic sup­ple­ments to any­one look­ing to feel bet­ter and live a health­ier life. I have had no neg­a­tive side-effects and per­haps the biggest change is since tak­ing pro­bi­otic sup­ple­ments, I am able to enjoy ice cream again (!!!) with­out wor­ry­ing about bloat­ing and stom­ach cramps. This alone is more than worth it for me.
